What is Khawat?
Khawat was founded by Eman Ghandour, alongside her sisters and friends. Together, we are a diverse collective of women from various industries, united by a shared vision to create meaningful change for migrant women in Aotearoa. Our roots span across Jordan, Kiribati, Maori, Palestine, Egypt, Samoa, Iraq,
Pakistan, Syria, and Bolivia—a reflection of the vibrant communities we serve.
We embrace the richness of our cultures, stories, and experiences, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. What makes Khawat unique is how we embody sisterhood. The trust, friendship, and deep connections we’ve built form the heart of this movement. It’s this unwavering bond that drives us to create a space where every woman feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
Khawat is more than a network—it’s a sisterhood of strength, resilience, and unity. Built by women, for women. What sets Khawat apart is how we model sisterhood. The friendship, trust, and connection we’ve built with each other form the foundation of this movement. It’s this bond that inspires us to create a network where every woman feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
Khawat is more than just a network—it’s a sisterhood community rooted in strength, resilience, and unity, built by women, for women.
